Academically, her 4.0 grade point average included numerous honors and advance placement courses. Hannah's references were outstanding, and her AP Economics teacher wrote that she is gifted, impressive, thoughtful, humble, and dedicated. She is a member of the National Honor Society, is heavily involved in German Club, and served as a student ambassador in an exchange program in Hamburg, Germany.
Hannah has been a member of the Northern Lights Team since the age of 10. Coach Murray called her a leader with legendary work ethic. Her involvement in USA swimming and high school swimming include a multitude of awards. She is currently the Alaska Swimming House of Delegates Secretary and is employed by the Swim America Program. She earned a varsity letter all four years at Service and served as Captain her junior and senior year. Coach Murray stated that Hannah "demonstrates qualities daily that transcend those desired by swimming coaches and fellow teammates."
She has volunteered in such activities as timing at novice and masters' meets, trail clearing for the Lost Lake Breath of Life Run, Tour of Anchorage Aid Station Attendant, and helped with the Gold Nugget Triathlon set-up.
In her essay Hannah said, "The greatest thing that I've gained from swimming isn't a lesson but a community. My coaches and fellow swimmers have had a tremendous impact on the person I've become...Swimming was a catalyst that changed my life, and I'm a better person for it."
The Committee believes that Hannah is the epitamy of what our scholarship represents to the world of swimming.
