Practice Times and Fees

S.W.A.M. has three membership 'levels' (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) and two training groups, morning and evening.

The morning training group meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30 until 7:00 a.m. and Saturday from 8:00 until 9:30 a.m. This option is best for people who want to improve their swimming and fitness levels.

The evening training group meets Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 until 9:30 a.m.

Sundays with SWAM at UAA - Sunday workouts are back, starting 12 September 2010.

SWAM will be experimenting with Monday and Wednesday night workouts. These workouts will concentrate on Triathlete training and 'new workout swimmer' training.

Note that it is possible to 'cross over' and combine morning and evening session swims.

Gold Level Membership - $300.00 per semester to swim any workout. Swim up to 6 days a week. This option is best for the most serious athletes and people who need a lot of flexibility.

Silver Level Membership - $250.00 per semester for swimming 4 times a week. This is the best option for people who want to improve their swimming and fitness levels.

Bronze Level Membership - $200.00 per semester for swimming 3 times a week. This option is good for maintaining fitness level.

SWAM offers a Rate for Seniors, defined as anyone 65 years of age and over: $180 per trimester for an unlimited amount of SWAM workouts in that trimester.

Punch cards are also available for $75.00 for 10 swims.

Individual swims - $10.00

The SWAM board, as always, will entertain petitions from any member who finds these rates an economic hardship.

Make checks payable to SWAM. Semester dues are payable on the first day of the month at the start of each trimester. A trimester is 4 months. The 4-month sessions are September 1 to December 31, January 1 to April 30, and May 1 to August 31. For your convenience, there is a fee collection box in the hallway leading to the Moseley Sports Center locker rooms.

All SWAMmers must be current members of U.S. Masters Swimming - USMS ($30.00 per year) for insurance purposes. The USMS application form is available at the Alaska Masters Swimming web site or you can register on-line.

You should be able to swim eight lengths (200 yards) of the APU pool to join the team.
